House Broom – Stiff Competition

Our house brooms are a bit larger than our kitchen brooms – they have about 1 1/2 pound of broomcorn instead of an even 1 pound –  and a bit stiffer. They’re great for getting rougher surfaces cleaned up!

We accomplish this by adding an extra layer of raw or craft broomcorn to the outside of the broom and stitching it 5 times. The extra layer is longer, which mean, when it is trimmed, the edges are a bit less brushy and a bit more bristly. The extra stitching adds some additional stiffness to the sweep, as well.

All of this is securely bound on to a 42 inch long select Ozark hardwood handle with a nicely woven top.
